This sweet little red kitchen timer and this fun
Flamingo insulated jug.  I bet this jug came along on many sunny afternoon picnics :)

You Are My Sunshine

It truly is amazing how a little bit of sunshine can lift your spirits.  We have had sunshine for the past three days here in Pittsburgh--that is somewhat of a small miracle.  I have cracked the windows just a bit and opened the front door welcoming the sunshine to come in and stay awhile.  The sunshine not only lifts my spirts but it also gets me in the mood to dust away the Winter and do a little Spring cleaning.  I love it when the windows shine and everything smells so fresh and clean.  I even borrowed my mom's floor steamer and cleaned all of our hardwood floors.  I teased her when she bought it--telling her she had the cleaning sickness.  I must now admit that little thing is amazing.  My floors have never been so clean.   (hmmm I hope she forgets which one of her daughters borrowed it (heheheh)   With a clean house and all of the Winter decorations carefully put away for another season, I thought it was a good idea to bring a little Spring to our house.  Here are a few of my favorites......
The sunshine has even inspired the creative side of me in this little mini brag book that I created for my etsy shop.....
So thankful for the SUNSHINE today :)

Button Button

I love to think "outside of the box".  One of my favorite things to do is find new creative uses for an object--using it for something entirely different giving it a new purpose.  I have repurposed items all over my home.  I wrote about some of them on this post. Today I wanted to share with you my most recent repurposed item.  I am sure you have all seen those sweet little cupcake stands.  You know the ones ment to hold yummy cupcakes at birthday parties.  I had my eye on one at Target for several weeks.  I must have looked at it while shopping with Kate and Emma (the little girls I babysit) because guess what they surprised me with for my birthday.  I was thrilled to receive it and hated to store it away in a closet until I baked some cupcakes.  Then I took a really good look at it and thought how fun it would be used as a rack to store my buttons.  I have shared before how much I love the products sold at Papertrey Ink and their wonderful buttons did not disappoint me.  I ordered several bags and was delighted with their beautiful colors--too pretty to store unseen.  Each little bag of buttons fit perfectly into an 8 ounce ball canning jar which slipped easily into the spaces on the cupcake stand.

I wanted to be sure to remember the color name of each button set so I printed out these pretty labels by Martha Stewart and sized them to fit on the lid of the jars.  I cut them out using my scalloped Nestabilities circles and adhered them  to each lid.

Look how pretty these colors are. Is it any wonder why I wanted to display them.....

Did you notice that there are some empty jars?  Did you also notice that the labels have already been printed with the names of the other colors on my wish list?  (hehehe)
Do you have any repurposed items in your home? I would love to see your creative ideas!!

It's Rednesday

One of the great things about the blogging community is the fun and clever way bloggers invite you to visit their  blogs and introduce you to other blogs of similar interest.  One such blogger is Sue from It's A Very Cheery World.  She declares every Wednesday to be REDnesday and invites you to share something red on your blog.  When you add your blog link to the list on her blog,  you invite fellow bloggers to stop by for a visit.   You can then visit the others who are participating.  I love the color red so I thought I would play along today.  If you have a minute hop on over to her blog and visit the others on the list.(just click on the highlighted name above)   It is fun to see all the red items that everyone collects.  I will share a couple of my favorite red items today and save the rest so that I can play again next Wednesday :)
First I will share these fun little game pieces that spell my name.  I participated in a swap a few months back and they were part of my swap treasures---I love them!!
My kitchen colors are yellow, red, and black so I have alot of fun red accessories--most of them vintage :)  One of my favorites are theses sweet little spice jars.  I love their cheerful red lids and the vintage labels on the back giving suggestions on how to use each spice.
Oh this is fun I could go on forever.  The last red item I will share today is this fun strawberry breadbox.  I purchased this from a neighbor who was moving and having an estate sale.  I was thrilled to have found it and it looks great displayed on top of my hoosier  cabinet in the kitchen.  Whenever I see it I am reminded of her friendship and it brings a smile to my day.

I hope you have enjoyed seeing some of my favorite red items.  Thanks for stopping by and I hope that you will stop by again for a visit. HAPPY REDNESDAY!!!
