The Joy of Discovery

I have always had a heart for children.  I love everything about them.  Their innocence, their giggles, their energy, their unconditional love, their zest for life, their honesty and their sincerity.  It delights me to watch them play and discover new things.  My own son, Alex will turn 21 this week.  Truely where did the time go? As he grew we planned on adding to our family but  as time passed we were just not blessed with any other children of our own.  At first I did question this but then I began to see how God would bless me in a different way.  He would bring children into my life in so many other ways.  First with my sweet girls Kate and Emma--who have now grown into beautiful young ladies.
After my babysitting time with the girls came to an end, God brought Drew, my new "week day" buddy into my life.  Then He blessed our family again with my new neice, Emily.  This week I was delighted to have both Drew and Emily to spend time with. What a joy to watch them play together...

and discover new things......

This morning Drew was practicing his cutting skills.....
He was so pleased and excited to have learned this new skill.

Each new day brings new discovery----and it is such a JOY to watch.

Happy St Patty's Day

I love it when a day brings all that is unexpected.  Alex and I had planned on waking early this beautiful St. Patricks day to take a drive to one of my favorite places in Pittsburgh--the Strip District.  I have written about this place several times before so I will not repeat myself but if you would like to read my post just click here.  I don't know where we have been for the past several days, but we were totally unaware that the St Patricks Day parade began right at the Strip.  At first we were a bit irritated with all the traffic, crowds, and confusion but the longer we sat in the car we realized we had never been to a St Patricks Day parade before.  We quickly  parked the car and joined in the fun.  First things first, neither one of us were wearing the correct color--Alex in blue and I in orange of all colors.  We stopped at one of the street vendors, picked our favorite festive St. Patrick shirt, and did a quick change in their "dressing room".  After we had the proper attire we headed  off to the parade. Once we had been walking a bit I noticed that we had somehow gotten "behind the scenes" at the parade staging area.  What fun to see all the participants before the parade began.  I must admit I felt a little like Ferris Beuller participating in a parade in which we were really invited :)  As we walked we came across Mr Mcfeely--the speedy delivery man from Mr Roger's neighborhood.  What a treat to meet him. He was truly a friendly, kind man---taking time to talk and visit with us.
What a FUN FUN day we had-------

I hope your St Patricks Day was happy and fun too :)

Bunnies and Chicks

Well the count down continues and I have been sewing like crazy--from early morning---while Drew naps---and late into the night.  I  decided to take a short break this afternoon (while the sun is shining) to snap a few pictures of  some of my new finished items for the craft fair.  This week I have been working on finger puppets.
Easter peeps waiting for their little eggs......

What would Easter finger puppets be without the Easter Bunny

I packaged them in a clear box--tied with bakers twine--and added a little carrot. After all every bunny needs a carrot :)

Ok well that is enough silliness--it's back to work for me.  The rest of the week I will be sewing more finger puppets (the ones that are not just for Easter) so check back soon I will post pictures of them as well.  Have a happy rest of the week  xoxo
