A Bird, A Best Friend and Beautiful Blooms

I must say that this has been the longest Winter that I have ever experienced.  Don't get me wrong I am all for enjoying what each season has to offer. I even enjoy a good snowstorm.  The kind of storm that keeps everyone inside with a cup of hot coffee and a good book (or in my case a good craft magazine).  But oh my goodness enough is enough already!! I have shared in past posts about my poor snow driving skills and everyone who knows me is aware of the fact that I don't go anywhere if there is a threat of snow. At the rate things are going,  I really didn't think I was going to get out in civilization until July.  Until today...we actually had a day where the dreaded white stuff was not falling from the sky.  My best friend Heidi and I had made plans at the beginning of February to have lunch which was of course cancelled due to snow.  We decided to take advantage of today's weather and spend the afternoon together.  Heidi and I are more like sisters --having known eachother all of our lives.  We lived right next door to eachother from birth and have stayed friends to this day.  We have been through so much together--happy times as well as sad.  I truly don't know what my life would be like without her in it.
This is my favorite picture of us growing up.  I am the shabby chic dresser on the left and Heidi is the proper pulled together one on the right.
We had the nicest afternoon.  First a relaxing lunch and then a little shopping at the cutest gift shop.  They have the most wonderful seasonal merchandise and with our need for Spring we couldn't wait to get inside.  We were definitely not disappointed.  Just look at this silly little bird I found.  I love the decoupaged book pages.
We each needed a few things from the grocery store so we decided to go shopping together.  We just could not leave without taking one of these beautiful primroses home with us.
After this lovely afternoon I feel like a whole new girl.  Just what the doctor ordered to chase away these stir crazy Winter blues.

Eeeeek! The bird is awesome! Hope there are some more left at the store. Don't primroses just make you smile. I'm really hoping that we will see a big change (for the better) in the weather in the next few weeks....and no flooding! Your pictures are great-that sheet really works!

There's nothing like a good friend to chase away the blues and blahs! Glad you enjoyed the afternoon--I'll bet you could make that bird! :-)

I liked your little bird. An afternoon out with a friend is definitely what the doctor order. I think we all have had days inside that we would have sooner been doing something else because of the weather.

Sassy the Easter Beagle from your previous post is just the photo that I needed today to put a huge smile on my face! I was in need of a smile. Life just gets to one some times. :-) But I digress.... I know what you mean with snow and driving, I hate to drive in it too ever since I flipped my car over on its roof on icey roads at age 18 and broke my shoulder. I was lucky that not more happened. I have been afraid of snowy roads ever since, and will not budge from the house unless I absolutely need to when it snows. Nothing like your best friend to get you in the mood for a day out though. How fantastic that you are still such good friends. I have contact to Kathy, my childhood friend, but of course there are many miles between us now. But we always get together when I fly home. 48 years of friendship is in one's blood. Sounds like you two ladies had a marvelous time. I love to shop, and simply must bring at least one small thing home with me!! Our weather is calm and lovely today after the big storm of the weekend. Sunny and in the 40's today, blue skies tempting one to be out to enjoy it. I am soaking up the sunshine at the window as I write to you. p.s. love the picture of you as a child, that would have been me, the shabby chic one!! I am still that way, everyone else is nicely pulled together, I always seem to have my clothes a bit askew! hugs, debby
