A few days ago I asked Drew's mommy if she could bring a few of Drew's toys from home for him to play with while he is with me. When I first started babysitting him, I had purchased a bunch of toys for us to play with but he has become such a big boy I was afraid that he was becoming bored with those "baby" toys. She brought us all kinds of fun toys---the Fisher Price farm, trucks, airplanes, and a very cool ride on dinosaur. Not only does this dinosaur ZOOM across my hardwood floors, but it also plays music while blinking lights dance to the music in strobe light fashion. The dogs are terrified of it. When he parked it outside of my bedroom door today before leaving for the night, he had no idea the dogs were inside sleeping on their bed. When I heard sad crys for help coming from the room I went to investigate. This is what I found.....
Instead of coming to their rescue right away like a good "doggie Mommy", I grabbed my camera and recorded their efforts to escape this ferocious beast.
After laughing to the point of tears, I finally decided to come to their aid and release the hounds. They are resting comfortably now recovering from their traumatic experience.
Whoever said that Golden Retrievers and Beagles are two of the smartest dogs never had the pleasure of meeting my three silly dogs :) I do however love them with my whole heart :)
Hi my name is Mimi and I am addicted to fabric :) There I said it out loud--I feel so much better now. Yes it's true I think I have a problem. I just can't help myself, I see a pretty piece and I just have to have some. I used to tease my mom about all the fabric she had in her stash and now I think I may just have more than she does. I purchased this lovely group before the holidays......
Just in case you have the same addiction as I do, I purchased it from a wonderful etsy shop called Sew Deerly Loved. The name of this fabric is Pam Kitty Morning, Lakehouse. You can also find it here at The Fat Quarter Shop --- some of that pretty yellow is on it's way to my door as I write this :) I told you I think I may have a problem (hahaha) I also wanted to share with you a fun new book that I discovered. It is called Sugar Sack Quilts and I hope to some day be able to create a quilt as amazing as the ones in this book.
Speaking of amazing quilts--I saved the best for last. I have shared in previous posts what a wonderful quilter my mom is. She has created many beautiful quilts and I am delighted to say that I was the lucky recipient of her latest creation.
Several months ago we purchased a piece of fabric covered with reproduction handkerchiefs. My mom cut them apart and incorporated them in this beautiful quilt for my bedroom.
I am thrilled with the way it turned out. I think I may need a major room redo worthy of this work of art. But that will be a post for another day :) Just for fun and giggles I thought I would share this photo and caption with you..
About Dandelion Wishes--Why a Dandelion you ask???
As I was contemplating starting my blog and opening my etsy shop, many thoughts swam in my head. What would I write about, what would I sell and what in the world would I call my blog and shop? Oh I had a list of names--which one should I choose? I finally decided on Dandelion Wishes. Why that name you ask? Why a dandelion--they are such a nuisance poking their little yellow heads right out into the beautiful green grass. Then there are those little white seed parachutes floating over my lawn just looking for a place to land and grow more little yellow heads in my beautiful grass. If I would have stopped at that thought I never would have choosen the dandelion to represent my blog. Who want's to be known as a nuisance?? Not me. As I stopped and really looked at the little yellow flower, I discovered that it is really quite beautiful. With it's many petals and it's happy yellow color I found it to be really very cheery. And then the thought struck me. There are many things that come into our lives that at first we consider a nuisance. But if we really stop to think about them, often they can become a thing of beauty--teaching lessons and helping us to grow and mature in our lives. I couldn't think of a better name for my blog and shop. It helps to remind me to stop and see the beauty in all situations, to ask myself what lesson I am to be learning, and how does this situation help me to grow into a better person. I wish that for all of you my friends as well. Thank you for visiting Dandelion Wishes. I hope you enjoy your stay.
