"OK OK" said the young girl with her best teenaged attitude "I can sew but I don't like it and I am not going to sew again"
Fast forward about 30 years.....
"OK OK" said the now not so young daughter with her best humbled middle aged attitude. "I can sew and I love it. Oh and by the way I think I may need a new sewing machine" "Would you help me pick one out Mom?"
So Mom and I did a little sewing machine shopping. With her help I finally decided on this most wonderful machine. It is a Brother model Innovis 80.
Alex and I picked it up yesterday and I have been reading the encyclopedia that came with it, and getting comfortable with all the new features since we arrived home. Two of my favorite features are the needle threader and the sewing speed controller. I think I am finally ready to sew my first project today. I am soooo excited. Since my first craft fair is in less than a month, I have lots to keep me busy.
Thank you mom for your encouragement and for passing on to me your love for sewing.
"Yes I can", said the daughter. "I love you Mom"

What a beautiful post, Mimi. Love the sentiment about your mom, and congrats on that beautiful sewing machine. I'm sure you will put it to good use! Looking forward to eventually seeing the treasures that will be made.

Looks like you are going to have some fun and it is great that your Mom got to help you with this.
Enjoy!

Hugs, Heidi
Loved the post, made me think about my mother and myself while I was growing up and how much she encouraged me and my sisters to always try at everything and anything. One can not fail if you never try in the first place! such a lovely post. As for that new machine, am I allowed to turn pea green over here!! It is fantastic! I know what you mean about the instruction booklet, it is like reading an encyclopedia, learning about all that the machines of today can do. Enjoy your new "toy" and we can't wait to see the first finished project to come from it. Now I think I will show hubby this post, and give him an idea of what I just might want for christmas, something white, with a needle, and lots of sewing options. :-)
hugs, Debby
