When my very good friend, Joyce, mentioned that she had joined a Spring swap my first thought was "Oh that's nice---Swaps are just not for me. You may be asking yourself what exactly is a swap??? A swap happens when a group of Internet friends decide to exchange names with each participant receiving the name of a partner. The swap has a host who organizes the event and assigns a theme. The goal is to get to know your partner through her blog or through e-mails and keeping with the assigned theme search for special treasures that your partner will love. I thought the idea sounded like fun and had joined two swaps in the past. After putting much thought into the gifts for my partner, I received nothing in return. It was a very big disappointment. Joyce assured me that this would not happen in this swap-- "The host, Linda, is a lovely lady and her swaps are organized and so much fun." After receiving a thoughtful email from Linda and reading her beautiful blog, I felt reassured and decided to give it another try. Oh my goodness am I glad I did. I was assigned a partner (also named Linda) and began to get to know her by reading her wonderful blog, Lambsworld. After exchanging emails I set to work hunting for special treasures. I will post pictures of them in another post as her package is still in route and I want her to be surprised. But I will show you pictures of what I received in return. I am overwhelmed with excitement and gratitude.First of all this is the top of the box my gifts were mailed in. WOW!!! The mailman just smiled at me as he handed me my box of treasures. I carefully opened the box from the bottom so that I could save this masterpiece. These are the wonderful goodies I found inside..........After opening all of these lovely gifts, my little helper Emma could hardly wait to open her favorite of all ----the M & M's
Thank you so much Linda for all of these wonderful gifts. I could not love them more!!!!
dear Mimi Looks like you picked a winner this time. Your partner seems to know you very well since she sent you things I could see you buying for yourself. Everything is just beautiful and fits you to a tee. If you get tired of the bird statue, I have a perfect spot for it. Mom
Your goodies are plentiful and suited to your tastes for sure. Linda was really paying attention. Wait till she gets your package...more lovely stuff! I must comment on how great your photographs are-the color is always so good and the composition, too. I think I'm going to have you take my pictures from now on.
Mimi...I'm so glad to see the package arrived and you're enjoying it so. It was such a pleasure to get to know you this way and a real treat to put together this swap for you! I hope to "see" you back for Linda's next swap. Happy Spring!
HI! I was so happy to see your comment on my recent post. I was thinking about you alot lately, wondering how all the creating is coming along in preparation for the beginning of april and your little grand opening! I can imagine that you spend your days creating, and your nights thinking up what you will make the next day. :-)
funny, when I wrote that post about the rain, I really was tired of it and I was not too happy with Germany. But I was never more surprised when so many people left comment that it was raining where they live too! It must be raining the world around right now at the end of March. Amazing. Those comments cheered me up more then any sunny day could, cuz I know we are not the only ones with awful weather! But oddly, the sun IS out today. There is hope afterall.
Glad to see that you are back once in a while. And your swap package is just FABULOUS!! I am amazed at the amount of things in the box, and how VERY well the suit you. Your swap partner Linda sure does know how to give gifts, it is as if she can look right into's a person soul and know exactly what they would like. Some people have that gift of giving!! ENJOY your new goodies.
see you again soon. I am thinking of you often. Debby
p.s. It is true, your pictures really are always wonderful, great color and so sharp! I think I need a better camera.
Wow! By the looks of your package I'll have to say that I'm sure you will sign up again for another swap! What a partner - Linda does a great job matching! I love all the things you received - totally you.
Hi Mimi. I just wanted to say how much I enjoy your blog!! I look forward to reading it and seeing all of the wonderful little treasures you find! I find myself liking the vintage items more and more as time goes on...possibly showing me that I am getting older? Anyway, thank you for always sharing your beautiful projects and thoughts. We met last November at Marian's craft show, I am one of the jewelry ladies that were across from you by the handmade card table. We hope to see you again this year! Thanks again for sharing!! Lisa
About Dandelion Wishes--Why a Dandelion you ask???
As I was contemplating starting my blog and opening my etsy shop, many thoughts swam in my head. What would I write about, what would I sell and what in the world would I call my blog and shop? Oh I had a list of names--which one should I choose? I finally decided on Dandelion Wishes. Why that name you ask? Why a dandelion--they are such a nuisance poking their little yellow heads right out into the beautiful green grass. Then there are those little white seed parachutes floating over my lawn just looking for a place to land and grow more little yellow heads in my beautiful grass. If I would have stopped at that thought I never would have choosen the dandelion to represent my blog. Who want's to be known as a nuisance?? Not me. As I stopped and really looked at the little yellow flower, I discovered that it is really quite beautiful. With it's many petals and it's happy yellow color I found it to be really very cheery. And then the thought struck me. There are many things that come into our lives that at first we consider a nuisance. But if we really stop to think about them, often they can become a thing of beauty--teaching lessons and helping us to grow and mature in our lives. I couldn't think of a better name for my blog and shop. It helps to remind me to stop and see the beauty in all situations, to ask myself what lesson I am to be learning, and how does this situation help me to grow into a better person. I wish that for all of you my friends as well. Thank you for visiting Dandelion Wishes. I hope you enjoy your stay.
